Stay alert, use your phone safely.
Distractions kill focus — and on-site, that kills people. A quick scroll can lead to a serious incident.
Pocket the phone and keep your head in the game.
Shortcuts: not worth the risk.
Barriers, whether they’re flags, water barriers or fences are there for a reason, to help keep you and your work mates safe.
If you see a better or safer way for access, report it to your supervisor.
Exclusion zones: get the nod.
Keep your wits about you when working or approaching plant and machinery. Always get positive communication. This means getting acknowledgement from the spotter or operator prior to entering the area.
Your right: say no to unsafe work.
Workers have the right not to do anything unsafe, and a duty to take care of themselves. If you’re a supervisor, you have a duty to protect workers’ health and safety.
You have an obligation to keep them safe. Don’t risk it.
No ticket. No go.
Only undertake tasks where you have appropriate licences and compentencies. If you’re unsure, stop and speak to your supervisor.
