This collection of safety videos is made BY tradies, FOR tradies. Real stories from real sites and how incidents could and can be prevented.

Prestart counts.

Consultation is key to safety. When employees and employers work together to help identify hazards and shape solutions, it builds a safer, stronger workplace. Prestarts are important! Show up, be present, start work safely.

Protect new workers on site.

We all started somewhere. New workers need the right information, instructions, training, and supervision to do the job safely. Keep an eye out for those fresh to the site, because looking out for them keeps everyone safe.

No SWMS, no start.

Workers have the right not to do anything unsafe, and a duty to take care of themselves. If you’re a supervisor, you have a duty to protect workers’ health and safety.

Don’t risk it.

Shortcuts: not worth the risk.

Barriers, they’re there for a reason – to keep you and your work mates safe! If you see a better or safer way for access, report it to your supervisor.

Stay alert, use your phone safely.

Using your phone on site can be more dangerous than you think. Distractions lead to incidents and injuries. Learn when and where it’s safe to use your device, and why keeping your focus on the job is the best call you’ll ever make.

No ticket. No go.

Only undertake tasks where you have appropriate licences and compentencies. If you’re unsure, stop and speak to your supervisor.

Exclusion zones: get the nod.

Keep your wits about you when working or approaching plant and machinery. Always get positive communication. This means getting acknowledgement from the spotter or operator prior to entering the area.

Always park up safely.

Make sure you immobilise your machine, park it safely and log any issues for maintenance. If unsure, consult with your supervisor.

Your right: say no to unsafe work.

Workers have the right not to do anything unsafe, and a duty to take care of themselves. If you’re a supervisor, you have a duty to protect workers’ health and safety. Don’t risk it.

Up high? Protect those below.

Set up your Working at Height (WAH) area properly. Define your boundaries, cease work if your zones are compromised. Alway wear the right PPE for the site and the job.

Don’t tick & flick – check it properly.

Pre-start checks protect workers and the general public, ensuring that all safety features are functional and that plant is safe to operate. Never underestimate the importance of pre-start checks.

The Expert Series

In this collection of videos we hear from experts as they offer insight and recomendations based off their considerable knowledge in the field.

What does a safe site look like?

A safe site is important to protect workers. Whether it is site access, signage, emergency equipment, barricading to protect workers, we all have a responsibility to make sure the site is safe.

If something doesn’t look right, report it.

Manage fatigue. Prevent harm.

Don’t work when fatigued! Look out for your mates and speak up if you or a workmate show signs of fatigue.

Scaffolding: don’t move it – report it.

Don’t tamper with scaffolding. If a piece of scaffolding is in your way or needs to be moved, call your supervisor – never move it yourself.
